Iris

This piece began as sixteen 1/4” rods in a small grid pointing directly upwards. I just started bending rods by hand or with a torch, grouping some with each other, and slowly petals of a flower began to emerge. I then used some recycled expanded steel grating to give the petals some body and turn the piece from a line drawing in 3D space into a sculptural work.
